Process:

The link above is the final edited version of the radio programme. Just as mentioned in the edit log, the programme only contained suitable recordings and was structured as planned.

Prior to creating the final edit, I first created an offline edit. This allowed me to piece together the show and give a brief idea of how it would flow and come together. To do this, I used the script as a guide. I organised it in this way:

  1. Introduction
  2. Song 1 (Bad Habit)
  3. Introduction to 'Into the Archives'
  4. Song 2 (Seventeen Going Under)
  5. Introduction to ad break
  6. Advert (Ring doorbell)
  7. Welcoming listeners back and introducing callers section
  8. Phone call 1
  9. Phone call 2
  10. Ending call section
  11. Song 3 (Running Up That Hill)
  12. Interaction with listeners from reading song suggestion text
  13. Song 4 (Somebody's Watching Me)
  14. Ending the show

To make the editing process easier and more organised, I first labelled each of the tracks on the multitrack project. Doing this also helped when raising and lowering audio levels.

One of the main things that I did was to cut out the unwanted parts of each take. This included removing any long pauses during speaking or talking that wasn't from the script. When doing this, in order to make the cuts not as noticeable or blunt, I increased the linear fade on the specific side of the audio.

I also applied linear fades to the beginning and ends of music in order for it to fade in suitably and naturally for the listener. This would help with the flow of the radio show, allowing a smooth listening experience. All of the music used in the programme was non copyright and royalty free.
